SAFETY RETIREMENT RESEARCH COMMITTEE
The purpose of this committee is to research safety retirement for the LA County Probation to determine whether it is feasible. This committee will meet twice a month at union headquarters. The time will be determined after applications are received. This is a five-month commitment. This committee will conduct research on legislation and current policy pertaining to safety retirement in California. Some travel to Sacramento and or Washington DC may be required (at the expense of Local 685). Click here to apply. If you have any questions after reviewing the application, please contact President Ford by email at sford@afscme685.com.
A CALL TO ACTION
Help us help you. Those of you working in the Camps/Halls, we need your help with solutions to some of the problems there. For example, if two youth fight, after the fight what should be the corrective action? If a youth assaults an officer, what should be the corrective action? We need the solutions to these and other problems. My team and I are here to help you. WE MUST DEMAND SAFETY IN OUR FACILITES. Please send me this information to me and or Vice President Chambers immediately. I will present these ideas to management and demand that our facilities are safe.
OFFICERS IN THE CAMPS AND HALLS
We need to see you at the general membership meetings. This is where you get valid information from. Your attendance is needed now more than ever. Hope to see you there.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
In the coming months, Local 685 will be involved in two special events that will require your participation. More information on those events will come soon. Stand by.
STEWARDS TRAINING
Stewards training is on the way. Those of you who signed up to be stewards, we have not forgotten you. As a union, we must step our game up. The department is stepping up their game in how they are dealing with employees. We need to tighten up our strategy when dealing with the department. Training is a must.
